Rosenboom back into winning form at Rapid Speedway

(July 15, 2005–Rock Rapids, IA) For Jody Rosenboom ,the end of June and early July has been a struggle to say the least. After losing an engine at Huset’s Speedway, the team returned to Rapid Speedway where they lost another power plant. Add that in with getting upside down a couple of times and it is far from the dream month for a racer. Things turned around though as Rosenboom appeared to be back in top for by dominating the sprint car feature at Rapid Speedway on Friday night.
Before one lap could be counted in the sprint car feature the red flag made an appearance over the track for the #9 of Micah Schliemann. In Schliemann’s first start at the track in 2005, he took a wild ride off turn three. The car was heavily damaged, but Schliemann walked away unharmed.
Chase Wilson led the opening lap, but it was Rosenboom driving from the second row and into the lead in turn two with one lap down. Butch Hanssen was charging through the pack and took fourth from Dusty Ballenger in turn one on lap two. On lap three the caution waved fro Rob Danielson as he looped his #46 in turn four while running third.
Hanssen wasted no time in taking second on the restart and setting his eyes on Rosenboom, but Rosenboom drive out to a 2.81 second lead by the halfway point of the 18 lap event. The race had one more caution for ballenger when he came to a stop in turn four.
At the finish it was Rosenboom by 1.96 seconds over Hanssen. Justin Jacobsma was third with fourth going to Jesse Drost. Wilson was fifth.
It took three laps for Mark DeBoer to maneuver his way around Brad Klaassen and into the lead of the late model stock car feature. By lap seven, DeBoer was being pressured by Rick VanderWeide for the lead. Those two were battling door to door, but on lap nine, gear troubles slowed VanderWeide’s #6 and sent him to the infield. Scott Overgaard mounted a charge in the closing laps, but would come up just short. DeBoer, the defending champion, took his second win of the year with third going to Darrin Korthals. Klaassen was fourth followed by Don Grems.
Brad Winesburg led the first three laps of the sportsmen feature but slipped high entering turn three. That opened the door for Billy Sprock as he took the lead and drove to his second straight win. Chris Huisman was second with Greg Roemen third. Kevin Broesder finished fourth ahead of Winesburg.
Jason DeBoer led all 12 laps of the Hobby Stock feature to take his fourth win of the season on twentieth of his career at Rapid Speedway. Justin Arends was second followed by Mark VandenTop. Dereck VanderBrink was fourth and Marlo DeJager was fifth.
Daniel DeBeer took his first ever win by holding off Derrick Nordstrom in the factory stock feature.
