Van Wyhe scores Rapid Speedway Win

(June 24, 2005–Rock Rapids, IA) With rain showers in the afternoon, the track was worked in and set for racing by night. The rain was a nuisance, but did provide for an extremely fast race track.
Shawn Van Wyhe made a three wide pass on the first lap to take the lead of the sprint car feature and never looked back at his first win of the 2005 season. Steve Ballenger was closing in during the final laps, but made a slight bobble as he came to the white flag to end his hopes of a win, but Ballenger did finish second. Gordy Vogelaar was third with fourth going to Chuck McGillivray. Mike Sandvig was fifth. The event went all 18 laps without any stoppage in the action.
Doug Brinkhous took the lead of the Late Model Stock Car feature one lap into the event and went on to take his second straight feature win. Scott Overgaard finished second with Mark DeBoer third. Don Gerritsen JR was fourth and Don Grems, the driver that led the first lap, was fifth.
In the sportsmen feature it was Greg Roemen taking his fifth feature win of the season at Rapid Speedway. Billy Sprock was second with Kevin Broesder third. Chris Huisman and Jamie Tieszen rounded out the top five.
Jason DeBoer took the lead of the Hobby Stock feature on the final lap and took his third win of the year. Derrick VanderBrink led the first 11 laps and finished second. Mark VandenTop was third with Justin Arends fourth. Marlo DeJager scored fifth.
Adam Jenniges took the win of the factory stock feature. That was the third win for Jenniges. Derrick Nordstrom, Ron McClure, Daniel DeBeer and Gary Delfs Jr rounded out the top five. Mike Koepke took the win of the super modified feature.
Rapid Speedway races again this Friday night.
