With sprinkles dotting the air and a large storm system moving in, Tom Platt put his 25X sprinter out in front of the field and led every lap of the A-feature enroute to taking home his second win of the season at the Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Ia. The 360 sprint feature was shortened from 18 to 15 laps because of the impending weather situation, and Tom Platt and fellow front row starter, Mike McMahan, led the field from the drop of the green. However, as the field got into turn three, Kevin Ingle of Huron, SD flipped his #2k hard in turn 2. Ingle was injured, but the field was forced to a complete restart formation. On the restart, it was again Platt out in front, but the real maneuvering was taking place deep in the field. The fifth row saw co-point leaders, Brent VandeWeerd and Dusty Ballenger, attempting to move through the field. Ballenger put on a show as he used the high side of the raceway to blast through the field. Meanwhile, VandeWeerd umped the cushion and fell to the back of the pack. Ballenger, however, could not catch the fleet Platt on this night and had to settle for second. Following Ballenger it was eighth-starting Gordy Vogelaar, Shawn Van Whye, and McMahan. Ballenger has now regained sole possession of the point lead.

Mark Henry improved on his runner-up finish from a week ago and took home his third victory of the season in the Late Model Street Stock division. Polesitter Gus Clark took the early lead but then looped his orange #17 in turn 4. On the restart, Henry put his Mopar #43 out front and ran away with the win over Doug Brinkhouse and Dale Furby. Darin Korthals and Chad Overgaard rounded out the top 5.

Brad Klaassen showed the field and the fans why he is the season point leader in the Sportsman A-main. Early leader Randy VanderWeide and Billy Sprock tangled a few laps into the race, and VanderWeide stopped on the frontstretch with a flat tire. Sprock, who won last week, stretched out a large lead and looked to be on his way to an easy victory. However, a late race caution put Klaassen, who started in the fifth row, on Sprock's bumper and he quickly moved past for his sixth victory of the season. Following Sprock it was Rick VanderWeide, Jeff Wittrock, and Rick Goth.

The IMCA Hobby Stock A-main very nearly went green to checker until a late race spin by Robert Norem in turn turn. On the restart, race-long leader and polesitter Jeff Hoogendorn finished the job and took home his second victory of the year. He was followed by David Bosma, Steve Folkens, Larry Embrey, who towed all the way from Madrid, Ia., and Mike Deutsch.
