Bickett Tops Lake County Sprint Cars

(June 18, 2005–Madison, SD) One the eve of Fathers’ Day, the action was wild at Lake County Speedway.
Ryan Bickett took the lead of the sprint car feature on the opening lap and would never give up that lead as he took his second wino the year. There was plenty of action in the 18 lap event though.
On the second lap of the event, Chuck McGillivray looped his #101 in turn three and collectect several other cars. Jared Riedel slammed into the wall while Jesse Drost got into McGillivray’s car and Lane Brenden also made contact in the incident. Riedel and Drost were out while the others were able to restart.
A red flag waved on lap nine when Jody Rosenboom did all but flip over in turn one. Rosenboom’s ride was enough to put him out of the event. As the red flag came out, Butch Hanssen drove into the bottom of the front stretch, damaging his car and ending his run.
Bickett took the win with second going to Brent Vonk. Cody Hansen was third with fourth going to Dusty Ballenger. Randy Droescher was fifth.
Chad Overggard put plenty of pressure on Gary Brown JR in the Late Model Stock Car feature, but the 2002 and 2003 champion would not crack as Brown took his first win of 2005 at Lake County. Lee Schlumbohm drove from tenth to second with third going to Scott Overgaard. Howard Baartman was foutht with fifht going to Matt Steuerwald.
Mike McGillivray made a pass for the lead of the sportsmen feauture and led the final one-fifth of a lap to take the win. Steve Eliason led all but the last bit to take second. Third went to Jamie Tieszen with Paul LeBahn fourth and fifht going to Kevin Spurgin.
Lane Brenden had much better luck in the hobby stock feauture than he did in the sprint cars as the defending hobby champion took the feature win. Aaron Penning was second with third going to Travis Morris. Justin LeBahn took fourth followed by Zeb Larson.
Dan Carsrud took his second win of the year in the factory stock feature. Rodney Cook was second followed by Brian Graves, Jared Nytroe and Jesse Larson.
Todd Dozark took his second win of the year in the Deuces Wild feature. Chris Scholl was second with third going to Brad Scholl. Travis Christensen was fourth followed by Josh Van Engen.
Lake County Speedway races again this Saturday night.
