Deutsch wins First in Late Model Stock Cars

(Madison, SD–May 21, 2005) On a very racy surface, Lake County Speedway fans were treated to great racing action.
In the Sprint Car feature, Doug Martens drove from sixth to the lead in just under two laps. The race was not over yet though as Jody Rosenboom was charging from tenth and moved into second on lap nine. Rosenboom then made the moves on Martens and they went wheel to wheel. Martens held on and drove to the win with Rosenboom close in tow. Dusty Ballenger drove from eighth to third with fourth going to Butch Hanssen. Jesse Drost drove from eleventh to fifth.
The Late Model Stock Car feature has two major events; Colter Deutsch taking his first win in the class and Jeremiah Jordahl crashing in a major way. Deutsch took the lead of the event on the sixth lap from Chris Ellingson and went from there to the win. On the ninth lap of the race, Jeremiah Jordahl was charging from the tail of the field and clipped the wall on the backstretch. The result was a furious set of flips that completely destroyed the #3J. The car was demolished with the body coming completely off the car. The best news of the event was when Jordahl emerged unharmed from his piled up car.
Deutsch led Ellingson to the finish. Third went to Ray Sveegen with fourth going to Don Gerritsen, Jr. Gary Brown, Jr drove to a fifth place finish.
Paul LeBahn led all 12 laps of the Sportsmen feature to take his second career win. Jamie Tieszen took a close second followed by Greg Roemen. Kevin Spurgin and Mike McGillivray rounded out the top five.
Aaron Penning made it two in a row by taking the win of the Hobby Stock feature. Penning held off Tony Guisher who took second. Third went to Justin LeBahn. Zeb Larson finished fourth ahead of Jason Marko.
The Factory Stock feature was all Derrick Nordstrom as he drove from fifth to the win. Derrick Lux was second followed by Jared Nytroe. Dan Carsrud and Jeff Foster followed.
At the finish of the Deuces Wild feature a matter of inches separated the top two. Travis Christensen edged out Jeremiah Bethke for the win. Josh Van Engen took third followed by Brad Scholl and Justin Scarborough.
