DeBoer takes sixth win of Season at Lake County

(August 21, 2004 - Madison, SD) Chris Ellingson took the initial lead of the Late Model Stock Car feature with Matt Steuerwald closely following. One laps was in the books when Mark DeBoer, Rick Goth and Don Bickett all ran three wide. DeBoer nosed his was to third. That was negated however as the #3J of Jeremiah Jordahl spun in turn two. DeBoer quickly moved into third on the restart and on the fourth lap three wide was again witnessed as a pack of cars raced for fourth. On the fifth lap, Steuerwald drove past Ellingson in turn two and into the lead. One lap later, DeBoer stole second as he drove by Ellingson.
Steuerwald continued to hold off DeBoer until the eleventh lap.
Steuerwald's #3 pushed a little in turn three allowing DeBoer to take the lead. That was the winning pass for the points leader as DeBoer went to the win. Steuerwald was second with third going to Goth. Lee Schlumbohm and Ellingson rounded out the top five.
With five laps remaining in the Sportsmen feature, Mike McGillivray made the pass for the lead on Paul LeBahn. That move allowed McGillivray to lead the rest of the way for his second win in the sportsmen class. Don Gerritsen Jr made a last lap pass to take second. Third through fifth all crossed the line together. Mike Forseth was third ahead of Brad Winesberg and LeBahn.
The 2000 season was the last time Curt Ottoson found victory lane. That changed Saturday night in the Hobby Stock feature. Ottoson led the entire 12 lap race for the win. Tony Guischer charged from eleventh to second. Lane Brenden was third after starting 12th. Chad Patch and Aaron Penning rounded out the top five.
Jeremey Fedeler took his ninth win of the year in the Wild Ones feature, while it was Chad Larson taking his eighth win in the Deuces Wild feature.
John Paweltzki took the win in the Pure Stocks as they made their first appearance at the speedway.
