Riedel racks up second feature win of season at Lake County

(June 7, 2003-Madison, SD) Joe Riedel jumped from outside the front row to the lead of the NMRA 360 Sprint Car feature as the green flag waved. Doug Martens settled into second on the opening lap while Chuck McGillivray moved from the third tow to the third place. The leaders ran into lap traffic on the fourth circuit of the speedway. As they continued on through the event, Riedel kept lengthening his lead.
On the fifth lap, Dusty Wasmund moved by Kim Muntefering for the fifth place. Lap traffic became a problem for the leader on lap 11. The slower cars slowed Riedel and allowed Martens to pull side by side with the leader on lap 13. Riedel then cleared the moving obstacles and went on for his second win of the season. Martens was second and McGillivray third. Wasmund made a last lap pass to take fourth away from Randy Droescher, who crossed the line fifth. McGillivray and Ryan Bickett won the heat races.
Rick Goth was the man on the move in the Late Model Stock Car feature. Goth started eighth and took only one lap to move into the top five. On the third lap Goth took fourth from Don Bickett. Rob Anderson then lost third to Goth on lap seven. Two laps later, Goth took second place from Perry Tschetter. Gary Brown was also on the move. Brown passed Anderson on lap nine for fourth and took third on lap 12.
JJ Zebell, who had led from the drop of the green, led the field to the white flag. Goth began to pressure for the win, but had his right rear tire blow entering turn three. Zebell went on for his first win of the year. Brown took advantage of the flat tire and finished second. Goth held on for third ahead of Tschetter and Anderson. Goth and Bickett won the heat races.
Mike Husman led all 12 laps of the Sportsmen feature to claim his first win of 2003. Daryl Reverts crossed the line second and third was Jeremiah Jordahl. Rick Vander Weide came from ninth to take fourth and Richard Holbrook rounded out the top five. Josh Schmidt won the "B" feature. Holbrook, Kevin Spurgin and Matt Ayres were winners in heat race action.
After several failed attempts to start the Hobby Stock feature, the green flag waved and would not be interrupted for the entire 12 laps. Taking the lead at the drop of the green was Nick Bahr. Bahr, the 2002 Rookie of the Year, led every lap for his first win of the year. Jason Schwader finished second and third went to Chad Anderson. Mike McGillivray came back from a flat tire to take fourth and Steve Eliason was fifth. Anderson, Scott Borkowski, and Lane Brenden won the heat races. Rick Wibeto won the "B" feature.
Leslie Arnett took the lead from Derrick Nordstrom and went on for her fourth straight feature win in a row in the Wild One class. Brian Heiman was second and third went to David Christensen. The fourth place went to Brett Lease and fifth was Jeremy Fedeler. Tara Johnson and Greg Jung won the heat races.
In the Deuces Wild feature it was Myron Prussman grabbing his first win of the season. Dennis Martin was second followed by Chad Larson. Shawn Callies was fourth and fifth across the line was Matt Scholl. Travis Christensen won the "B". Martin, Larson, and Callies won the heat races.
Lake County Speedway races again this Saturday night. The green flag waves at 8 pm sharp.
