Zebell picks up second LCS win of season

Madison, SD-With the sprint cars running at Huset's Speedway for the Gold Cup, Lake County Speedway held it annual Stock Car Spectacular. At the drop of the green flag for the NMRA Late Model Stock Car feature, J.J Zebell would take the lead. Holding the lead wouldn't be an easy task though, as on lap two, Lee Schlumbohm would pull door to door with Zebell and challenge for the lead. While the leaders continued to run side by side up front, Brad Wollman was charging forward from his tenth starting position. On lap five, Wollman passed Matt Steuerwald and moved into third. While Schlumbohm and Zebell continued to run together for the lead, Wollman ran the two cars down and joined the hunt for the win. Wollman made his way past Schlumbohm on lap 10 and set his sights on Zebell. The race slowed on lap 11 as Curt Bauman lost the handle of his #42B and spun out. The field restarted with four laps remaining. Wollman and Zebell battled it out for those remaining four laps, but in the end, it was Zebell taking the win by a slim margin over Wollman. Schlumhohm finished third. Rob Anderson came from eighth to finish fourth and Perry Tschetter rounded out the top five. Heat race wins went to Zebell and Moose Schuldt.
Chuck Harming led all 12 laps of the Sportsmen main event to take home his second Lake County Speedway feature win of the season. Richard Holbrook came from sixth, and would make several bids for the lead, but would come to the line second. Chris Ellingson brought his #2 to the line third, despite the heavy smoke that poured from the car at times. Gary Gonyo and, point leader, Rick Goth rounded out the top five. Heat race wins went to Ganyo, Harming, and Jeremiah Jordahl. Brad Klaassen won the "B" feature.
In his first ever appearance at Lake County Speedway, Darwin Klaassen would charge from twelfth position to take the lead of the Hobby Stock feature on lap ten. But, as luck would have it, Klaassen would lose the lead as a tire went flat during a caution period with just two laps remaining. The misfortunate break for Klaassen gave Jeff Ellingson, driving for Dale Tomes, the lead which he would never give up as he put the #21T into victory lane. Adam Thielbar finished second with Jeremy Fedeler, Curt Otteson, and Steve Eliason rounding out the top five. Cody Hall, Justin Lebahn, and Jeff Beck scored heat race wins. The "B" feature was won by Rick Webito.
Team Bahr came from fifth to take their third Deuces Wild feature win of the season. The teams of Larson, Harmon, Jensen, and Claussen rounded out the top five. Heat race wins went to the teams of Bahr and Prussman.
Eric Alfson won the Wild Ones feature.
