Martens makes it two in a row

Madison, SD--One week after claiming his first win at Lake County Speedway in over a season, Doug Martens did it again. Martens and Kevin Ingle led the field of NMRA 360 sprints to the green flag, but by the time they entered turn one, Martens had piloted the Zebarth Trucking #51 into the lead. As Martens moved into lap traffic on lap six, Mike McMahan moved into the second position and began to chase Martens. The yellow flag waved on lap eight when Eric McGillivray had problems with the steering and wouldn't be able to pull to the infield. Martens led the field to the restart and would go on to take his second win in a row. McMahan would make several attempts at the lead, but would settle for the second place finish. Nine-time track champion, Chuck McGillivray used every inch of the racetrack to come from starting position 10 to finish third. Ingle and point leader, Kory Rawstern, rounded out the top five. Martens and Kim Muntefering won the heat races.
When the green flag dropped on the NMRA Late Model Stock Car feature, J.J. Zebell claimed the initial lead. On lap five, Matt Steuerwald would pull under Zebell and take the lead off turn four. Steuerwald would drive the Performance One car to his second win of the season. "I was wondering which way they'd come from, so I put it in the middle so somebody would have to be really good on the top or bottom to pass me," said Steuerwald on his defensive driving to hold onto the lead. Brad Wollman came from the ninth starting position to finish second. After starting seventh, Gary Brown Jr. finished third. Rob Anderson and Don Bickett rounded out the top five. Heat race wins went to Anderson and Steuerwald.
Mike Husman made the most of his outside front row starting position by claiming the lead of the NMRA Sportsmen "A" at the drop of the green flag. Chuck Harming moved into the second position on lap five, but would spin out in turn one on the following lap to relinquish the position. The yellow again flew on lap eight when three cars tangles in turn two. The final caution of the race flew when a car lost a wheel on the track with the white flag in the air. Husman led all 12 laps to claim his first win of the season. Chris Ellingson came from the ninth starting position to finish second. Rick Goth passed nine cars to finish third. Josh Schmidt finished fourth with Rick Vander Weide in fifth. Daryl Reverts, Harming and Husman scored heat race wins. Kevin Konda won the "B" feature.
After trading the lead of the NMRA Hobby Stock feature several times with Adam Thielbar, Rick Wibeto put the Super Wash #8w into victory lane for the third time this season. Mike McGillivray finished second. Jeff Beck, Justin Selken, and Dale Tomes rounded out the top five. Heat race wins went to Walter Kiggins, Selken, and Wibeto. Jeff Hoogendoorn won the "B" feature.
Team Bahr won their second Deuces Wild feature of the season. The teams of Olson, Mulder, Larson, and Claussen claimed top five honors. Heat race wins went to the teams of Jensen, Olson, and Bahr. Team Claussen won the "B" feature.
