Rawstern claims first LCS win of the season

Madison, SD-The red flag waved over the Lake County Speedway before one lap was completed in the NMRA 360 sprint feature. On the start, Kevin Ingle flipped his Prostrollo's #2k lightly in turn two. Ingle was uninjured, but the accident ended his evening. Kevin Droll pulled his Billion Automotive sprinter into the lead as the race resumed. Droll pulled a slight lead over Ryan Bickett, but the lead would be erased as Mike McMahon brought out the caution for stopping on the speedway due to a broken suspension. On the lap two restart, Kory Rawstern passed Bickett for the second position and began to chase Droll. Randy Droescher soon moved into the third spot as Bickett would fade with handling problems. The cars were working lap 11, when Rawstern would get a run on Droll and overtake the lead on the backstretch. Rawstern would lead the remaining four laps to put the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #4k into the LCS victory lane for the first time this season. "We needed it actually," said Rawstern, the defending track champion. "I didn't actually expect to win. These guys are pretty tough. Droescher finished second. Droll, Mike Ellingson, and Gary Johnson rounded out the top five. Heat race wins went to Joe Riedel and Ellingson.
On the fifth lap of the NMRA Late Model Stock Car feature, race leader, Lee Schlumbohm, would push high off turn four and allow Brad Wollman to take the lead. The one mistake of Schlumbohm's was all Wollman needed to claim his first win of the season. Schlumbohm finished second. Perry Tschetter finished third. Gary Brown Jr. and Curt Bauman went home with top five honors. The race was yellow flagged on lap 12 when Scott Freet had problems and stalled on the speedway. Heat races went to Schlumbohm and Wollman.
It took eight laps for Rick Vander Weide to come from the fourteenth starting position to take the lead of the Sportsmen main event. Vander Weide would drive to his third win of the season in the KSOB #6. Darren Duffy claimed his first top five finish since the season opener with his second place. Daryl Reverts, Chuck Harming, and Mark Janke rounded out the top five. The race was finished with a rare, red-checkered. Richard Holbrook flipped his car entering turn three as the leaders were taking the checkered. The car would land on its roof and catch fire. Safety personnel quickly extinguished the flames and Holbrook walked away uninjured. Heat race wins went to Gary Ganyo, Jeff Ellingson, and Reverts. Holbrook won the "B" feature.
Rick Webito led the first ten laps of the NMRA Hobby Stock feature, but Mike Kiggins came from starting position eight to claim the lead on lap ten and go on to his first win of the season. Webito finished second. Don Brady Jr. finished third, with Jeff Beck following in fourth. In his first appearance at the track this season, Jeff Hoogendoorn came from tenth to finish in the top five. Heat race wins went to Brady, Wibeto and Adam Thielbar. Justin Selken won the "B" feature.
Team Mulder claimed their fourth Deuces Wild feature win of the season. Team Jensen and Team Harmon followed them to the line. The teams of Prussman and Tildon won the consolation features. The teams of Mulder, Jensen, and Claussen won the heat races.
