In spite of extremely wet conditions and thanks to the hard work of the track crew, the weekly racing program was held at Lake County Speedway Saturday night.
In the late model stock cars, it was Kent Plimpton holding off fierce challenges by Brad Wollman and Dale Furby to score his first feature win of the year. Plimpton led the entire 18-lap distance, but at the finish Wollman and Furby were right on his bumper and it was Wollman taking the second spot by inches. Rick Eich and Bruce Bortnem rounded out the top five.
Shawn Van Wyhe found the extremely tacky surface to his liking as he claimed his first sprint car feature win of his career. Van Wyhe led the entire race, streaking to the win by over half a lap over runner-up Kevin Ingle in the 12-lap, non-stop event. Third went to Doug Martens followed by Steve Haman, Kim Muntefering and Butch Hanssen.
The Nordstrom's Sportsmen feature came down to an exciting, four-car battle and it was Ryan Nelson holding off Chris Ellingson, Matt Steuerwald and Jeff Hertl for his first win of the year. Nelson took the lead on the fifth lap after leader Josh Schmidt spun. Ellingson, Steuerwald and Hertl all passed a bunch of cars as they came from deep in the field to finish at the front.
Justin Selken was the second driver of the night to win his first career feature win as he outran the field to win the hobby stock feature. Selken led the entire way to take the win by four car-lengths over last week's winner, Joe Fitzpatrick. Third went to Jeff Beck ahead of Dean Schoenwald and Curt Ottoson.
The team of Chad Anderson and Nick Bahr continued their domination in the front-wheel drives as they claimed their third feature win of the year. Paugh and McGillivray were right behind in second followed by Vetsch and Rinehart.
