Brad Wollman became the first late model stock car driver to win four features at the track this year as he outran the field for the win before a large crowd Saturday night at Lake County Speedway.
Wollman, the defending track champion and current point leader by just one point over Todd Sterzinger going into the evenings action, came from the fifth row to take the lead on the ninth lap of the fifteen lap event when leader Perry Tschetter suffered a flat tire. Wollman maintained the point the rest of the way in the restart-marred event, taking the checkered flag three car lengths ahead of Sterzinger. Dale Furby remained in the title chase with a third place finish followed by Larry Dixon and Rob Anderson.
The Pam Oil/Valvoline/AC Delco/Lewis Drug/Pepsi 360 sprint feature had just one caution, and it was that caution that enabled Chuck McGillivray to take his fourth feature win of the year. Pole-sitter Lee Goos took the lead at the start of the fifteen lap event and opened a fairly comfortable advantage over McGillivray and the rest of the field when a caution slowed the race on lap seven when Matt Garner stopped his machine on the front straight. On the ensuing restart, McGillivray got a good jump on Goos and took the lead going into the first turn and held it the rest of the way. Goos settled for second ahead of last-row-starter Chad Meyer, Gary Johnson and Brad Nelson.
After battling side-by-side for several laps, Rick Goth took the lead from Josh Tangen with one lap to go and went on to win his first Nordstroms Sportsmen A feature of the year. Tangen took the lead on lap six when leader Brad Haas spun and then held it until sliding a bit high in the fourth turn just before the white flag allowing Goth by for the win. Tangens misfortunes continued as he spun on the final lap, allowing the rest of the field by and it was Richard Holbrook taking second ahead followed by Russ Peterson, Jeff Ellingson and Matt Steuerwald.
Doug Van Liere came from the fourth row to take the lead on lap three and went on to win his second hobby stock feature of the year. Van Liere inherited the lead when leader Curt Ottoson had the misfortune of running over a bumper on the track, sending him to the infield for repairs before rejoining the field at the back. Jason Armstrong had a strong run to take second ahead of Dale Tomes while Ottoson worked his way back through the field to take fourth.
The team of Boatright and Eichman topped the field to win their first Deuces Wild feature of the year. Second went to Gross and Schmidt followed by point leaders Schmidt and Grayson.
