Schliemann and Cressman win Sprint car features Sunday night.

By Heather Riffel

(June 4, 2006-Brandon, SD) Johnn Cressman made it two in a row at Huset’s Speedway by winning the Sprint car feature. Meanwhile Micah Schliemann was able to hold off Mark Dobmeier in the Outlaw Sprint feature. Darrin Korthals picked up another win in the Late Model Stock car feature while Zeb Larsen picked up the trophy in the Hobby Stock feature.

Dusty Ballenger started on the pole of the caution-free 25 lap Outlaw Sprint car feature. Steve Ballenger and John Lambertz battled it out for second. Micah Schliemann quickly moved up from his sixth starting place to battle for the lead. Schliemann used the high groove to overtake the lead on lap ten. Meanwhile Mark Dobmeier was quickly moving up from his twelfth place starting position. Dusty Ballenger battled it out with Lambertz for third. Dobmeier was unable to catch Schliemann because he got stuck in lap traffic. Schliemann was able to cross the line first followed by Dobmeier. Behind them were Gregg Bakker, Jake Peters, and Dusty Ballenger.

Eric McGillivray started on the pole of the Sprint car feature. The battle quickly heated up between him, Terry Chester, and Dusty Wasmund. Jody Rosenboom looked strong early when he came from eleventh to fifth by lap four. There was a caution when Lane Brenden flipped his sprint car in turn two. On the restart Wasmund took the lead from McGillivray. Wasmund seemed to be in control of the race lead. Johnn Cressman had been moving his way up from his eighth starting position. He was able to use the bottom of the race track to slide past Wasmund on the last lap and take the win. Wasmund finished in second followed by McGillivray, Casey Abbas, and Chester.

The Late Model Stock Car feature has Don Gerritsen Jr. starting on the pole. He was followed closely by Dan Jensen and Jesse Kroger. Darrin Korthals quickly battled his way to the front. He was able to use the high side of the track to take the lead in the fourth turn on lap eight. Korthals was able to hold on through four cautions to take the race win which was his second of the weekend. He was followed by Gerritsen, Gary Brown Jr., Matt Steuerwald, and Dale Furby.

Zeb Larsen dominated the Hobby Stock feature by starting on the pole and getting out to a big lead in order to lead every lap. The battles behind him were strong with Tommy Barber and Shaun Taylor fighting for second. They were followed by Jason Bueckens and Chad Graves who were battling for the fourth position. At the line it was Larsen followed by Barber, Taylor, Bueckens, and Graves.
