Dobmeier, Cressman, Brown, and Weber all winners on Sunday night

By Heather Riffel

(May 28, 2006-Brandon, SD) There was a huge crowd on hand despite high temperatures and gusty winds to see another exciting Sunday night of racing at Huset’s Speedway. Mark Dobmeier was the big winner in the Outlaw Sprint feature. Johnn Cressman won the 360 sprint feature. Gary Brown Jr. took the Late Model Stock Car feature while Trent Weber picked up the in the Hobby Stocks.

Micah Schliemann got out to a big lead early in the Outlaw Sprint feature. He and Jordan Martens battled back and forth for the lead lap after lap. These two were able to breakaway from the rest of the pack to battle among themselves.

By lap eight Lynton Jeffrey was on his was to the front after starting in seventh. There was a caution for Chad Meyer. The race went back to green with a great start for Schliemann while Jeffrey and Gregg Bakker went after Martens for second.

Jeffrey and Bakker ended up getting into each other and causing a caution that took them both out of contention for the win. On the restart Gary DeWall entered the top five and challenged for the lead. The battles among the top five were fierce with positions changing every lap.

The last caution came with 6 laps to go with the winner still unknown. On the restart Mark Dobmeier was able to get up to second. He went to the high side and was able to take the lead on the 20th lap of this 25 lap event. He continued to stretch out his lead and crossed the finish line well ahead of second place Micah Schliemann. Jake Peters followed in third while Gary Dewall took fourth and Wade Nygaard rounded out the top five.

Johnn Cressman proved that his dominance in the 360 Sprint feature last week was not just a fluke only this time it ended with an impressive win Sunday night.

Justin Jacobsma started on the pole. He was soon passed by Brandon Rokusek on lap three. Johnn Cressman came from his starting spot of seventh to take the lead in only four laps.

The race then began for second place with Terry Chester and Casey Abbas battling it out. Rokusek and Mitch Runge soon joined in the battle.

At the line it was Johnn Cressman taking his Impact Autoworks car to victory followed by Rokusek, Abbas, Runge, and Chester.

Jordan Heiman started on the pole of the Late Model Stock Car feature but by turn two he had spun out and caused the first caution of the race. This allowed Don Gerritsen Jr. to take the lead. The race again went under caution for spinning cars.

On the restart Jesse Akkerman and Gary Brown Jr. challenged Gerritsen for the lead. Brown was able to get by Gerritsen on the high side. This battle continued for many laps with Brown staying high and Gerritsen hugging the bottom.

Akkerman soon joined the battle for second which let Brown gain a bigger lead. This was just enough to let Brown take the checkered for the first time this season. Gerritsen held onto second while Akkerman finished third. They were followed by Dale Furby and Justin Glaser for fourth and fifth.

Tommy Barber started on the pole of the Hobby Stock feature and kept his position driving off to a big lead. He was followed in single file by Greg Brandt, Trent Weber, and Tom Cauwels. They continued in this single file racing. With the white flag out Tommy Barber’s car went up in smoke and he was black-flagged. Trent Weber came through the smoke and crossed the line first leading only one lap. He was followed by Cauwels, Brandt, Chad Graves, and Justin Arends.
