Dobmeier takes third of season, E-Mac wins first at Huset’s

By Shawn Neisteadt

(August 8, 2004—Sioux Falls, SD) In an action packed night of racing action, two drivers scored repeat wins while two others broke into victory lane.

Brock Dump took the early lead of the Outlaw Sprint 25 lap feature. On the first lap, Mike Moore drove in to the top five as he passed Robert Bell. Moore held that spot until the third lap when the #R19 of Jason Solwold drove into fifth as they entered turn one. Entering the third turn, Solwold moved up another position as he passed Dusty Ballenger for fourth.

Solwold continued his charge as he passed Lyle Howey III on the fourth lap for third place. On the next lap, Mark Dobmeier took fourth as he passed Ballenger and Howey.

The battle for the lead heated up on lap seven when Chuck McGillivray pulled even with Dump. On the next lap McGillivray took the lead as they raced off turn two. Dobmeier was on the charge on the ninth lap when he passed Solwold for third coming off turn two then by Dump entering turn three and into the second position. The tenth lap of the race saw another new leader as Dobmeier took the top spot off turn two. After the pass for the lead, Dobmeier and the rest of the leaders started to negotiate their way through lap traffic. On the eleventh lap, Solwold drove past McGilivray and into second. Micah Schliemann was moving as on the twelfth lap he took over fourth place.

The race was halted on lap 16 when the #33 of Jim Smith spun in turn two. The red then waved as Dusty Ballenger tipped. Ballenger was unharmed, but our of the event.

On the restart it was Solwold and Schliemann battling. Dennis Moore Jr was also charging from the back of the pack and took fourth from Gregg Bakker entering the third turn.

The caution again waved on lap 19 when the #12x of Dump slowed on the speedway.

Dennis Moore was moving again on the restart as he took third from Schliemann in turn two. On lap 20 it was Gary DeWall taking fifth from Bakker.

Dobmeier drove to his third win of the year from the twelfth starting spot. Solwold drove from eleventh to second. Dennis Moore was third from thirteenth. Micah Schliemann charged from ninth to fourth. Fifth went to Gary DeWall, who started seventeenth.

Eric McGillivray held on for his second career win and second of his career at Huset’s. McGillivray led from the drop of the green, but coming to the white flag it was Dusty Zomer pulled wheel to wheel with the leader. McGillivray held strong on the high groove and held on for the win. Zomer charged from eleventh to second. Third went Jody Rosenboom with Butch Hanssen finishing fourth. Dusty Ballenger was fifth.

In the late Model Stock Car feature it was Jeff Kroger leading the entire distance of the event for his first win of the season. He did so in a car borrowed from Howard Baartman. Gary Brown Jr made the race interesting as he challenged several times for the lead. Matt Steuerwald was third with fourth going to Lee Schlumbohm. Jesse Akkerman rouned out the top five.
