Terry McCarl took one step closer to becoming Huset’s Speedway’s all-time leader in sprint car feature wins as he captured the outlaw sprint feature victory Sunday night. The win was McCarl’s 38th, tying him with Danny Lasoski on Huset’s all-time sprint feature win list. McCarl made a slick move as he passed both John Lambertz and leader Randy Nygaard on the ninth lap of the 25-lap event, giving him the lead which he held to the finish. Gary DeWall came all the way from the seventh row to finish a strong second, followed by Nygaard, Chad Meyer, Matt Wasmund, Steve Ballenger and Mark Toews. Point-leader Chad Radel made an impressive run to the front, coming from row six to take second with six laps to go. But as Radel quickly closed in on McCarl, he clipped the first turn wall and crashed into the fence with five laps left. Radel was uninjured but certainly dejected following the incident. Trouble on a restart with nine laps to go saw the front-running cars of Greg Bakker, John Lambertz and Kenny Hansen tangle before they made it to the flagstand. Bakker’s machine was too damaged to continue while Lambertz and Hansen were forced to the rear of the field on the restart.

Donovan Peterson grabbed the lead from rookie Justin Clark on lap eight and went on to take his first ever 360 sprint feature at the track. Clark had an impressive run as he fought back late in the race to pass Jake Peters for second and then moved up to challenge Peterson during the final laps of the race. Peterson was able to pull away on the final circuit, taking the win by four car lengths. Clark held off Peters for second, while Kim Muntefering took fourth ahead of Lee Goos.

Ray Sveeggen foiled Marty Barber’s attempt at his 50th career win at the track when he passed Barber following a restart with six laps to go and went on to capture the late model stock car feature. Sveeggen took the win by 10 car lengths over Barber, while Todd Sterzinger came from row six to take third. Point-leader Gary Brown and Don Bickett rounded out the top five.
