Craig Dollansky capped a successful weekend at Huset’s Speedway by scoring his second feature win of the year at the track Sunday night.

Dollansky, who ran second to Jac Haudenschild in the Huset’s Gold Cup the previous night, came from the third row to grab the lead from Jeff Mitrisin on lap eight and led the rest of the way to capture the $2000 winner’s prize for the twenty-five lap event. Although a number of restarts put point leader Terry McCarl on Dollansky’s rear nerf bar, Dollansky repeatedly pulled away from McCarl and the rest of the field and was never seriously challenged. McCarl held on to take second ahead of Peter Murphy, Micah Schliemann and seventh row starter Gregg Bakker.      Mitrisin’s bad luck at the track over the weekend continued when he collided with the spun car of Leonard Lee while running in third on lap twelve. The impact punctured the fuel tank on Lee’s car as it went on its side and caught fire. Thanks to the quick work of the rescue crew the fire was quickly under control, although the clean-up of the incident caused a lengthy delay. Unfortunately for Mitrisin, his car was too heavily damaged to continue, forcing him to the infield for the second night in a row while running near the front in the feature. The red flag also halted the action with nine laps to go when Shane Leibig caught the second turn wall and flipped. Fortunately, all drivers escaped unscathed from the mishaps.

Dennis Moore, Jr. became the thirteen different driver this year to score a feature win in the highly competitive Pam Oil/Valvoline/AC Delco/Lewis/Pepsi 360 sprint feature.      The race got off to a rough start when Terry Karn flipped his car for the second consecutive week on the first lap. The twenty car field fared no better on the restart when second row starter Joe Peterson spun his car sideways in front of the field in turn two, collecting the cars of Jeremy Kasten, Randy Nygaard and Butch Hanssen. Peterson’s and Hanssen’s machines both got on their tops and were unable to rejoin the race, while Kasten and Nygaard were able to make repairs and restart at the rear of the field. When the race resumed, it was Donovan Peterson taking the lead until mechanical problems slowed him on lap five and brought out the caution. This gave the lead to Moore which he held the rest of the way, in spite of a strong challenge by Randy Droescher. Droescher actually passed Moore with four laps to go, but a caution for the stopped machine of Chad Meyer gave the lead back to Moore on the restart and he held the point to the finish. Droescher finished a strong second followed by Gary Johnson, Lee Goos and Randy Nygaard, who came all the way from the back of the field (minus his nose wing) following the first lap crash.

The Brandon Valley Insurance late model stock car feature was a real thriller that saw rookie Gus Clark score his first feature win ever. Clark, who’s shown steady improvement throughout the season, led all the way but was heatedly challenged the entire eighteen laps. Brad Wollman made a bid for the lead at the halfway point of the race, but made contact with Clark’s machine, spinning him out and triggering the yellow and putting Wollman at the rear of the field on the restart. Next it was Rob Anderson battling Clark for the lead, and the pair were soon joined by Dan Jensen and Ray Feltman. The four car battle raged the rest of the race and at the finish it was Clark holding on for the win just ahead of Anderson, Feltman (in the Doug Olivier #18) and Jensen in a blanket finish.
