Micah Schliemann topped the field to score his first ever outlaw sprint feature win during mid-season championships Sunday night at Huset’s Speedway. Schliemann snatched the lead from fellow front row starter Skip Jackson at the start of the twenty-five lap event and held the point until a caution slowed the action on lap four. On the restart it was Jackson, who was currently in third, roaring past Gregg Bakker and Schliemann to take over the point momentarily, but Schiemann battled back and the pair swapped the lead several times before Schliemann resumed control on lap five. While Schliemann pulled out to a slight advantage over the field, Leonard Lee worked his way up from his third row starting spot, overtaking Jackson on lap eight and slowly cut into Schliemann’s lead, eventually running him down by the eleventh circuit. The thirteenth lap saw Lee use a slide job to take the lead, but it was all for naught as the red flag flew on the same lap when Jason Wendt flipped hard in the second turn of the same lap. While Schliemann was able to pull away on the restart, it was Dennis Moore’s turn to challenge for lead as Moore got by Lee two laps later and closed in on Schliemann. With Schliemann running inches from the outside wall on what was left of a cushion, Moore hugged the bottom line as the pair diced back and forth. Turn three of the final lap saw Moore get his best run at Schliemann but a lapped car proved to be his undoing as he had to slow momentarily as Schliemann motored on to the $2000 payday. Following the pair across the line were Lee, Jackson, Bakker and Terry McCarl.

The Pam Oil/Valvoline/AC Delco/Lewis Drug/Pepsi 360 saw a driver take his first win of the year as Terry Karn rode the high side to victory.      Doug Martens looked strong as he took the lead on the second lap of the eighteen lap event and opened a sizable lead over the field as he ran the bottom groove flawlessly. But a yellow with five laps to go for a pylon on the track proved to be Martens’ undoing as he surrendered his large lead on the restart and Karn overtook him on the next lap. Martens pulled to the infield shortly after that and it was Karn’s turn to open a large advantage over the field, which he stretched to a straighaway’s advantage by the finish. Butch Hanssen had an impressive run as he was another one of the few who chose to run high, coming all the way from the eighth row to take second. Gordy Vogelaar, Mike Ellingson and Jeremy Kasten rounded out the top five.

After scoring his first feature win ever at the track last week, Wayne Kruger wasted no time in scoring his second victory as he led nearly the entire distance in winning the Brandon Valley Insurance late model stock car feature. Kruger took the lead on the second lap and held off a fast-closing Dan Jensen to take a two car-length win at the finish. Todd Sterzinger was third followed by Brad Wollman and Dale Furby.
